The Music Playground is strongly committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, students and parents.
This page describes Covid-19 controls currently in place by The Music Playground.
Face to face classes for preschool children aged 0-6 resume outdoors in Leo Hoffman Reserve on Friday 29 October 2021. Instrument lessons will be face-to-face in the studio from Monday 1 November, requiring masks and full vaccinations for all staff, carers and children over 12. Music Club for school kids will be in the park from Monday 1 November, or online in the event of bad weather. This will be updated when restrictions related to singing indoors and the Health department’s indoor density quotient restrictions indoors ease further (hopefully soon!).
Covid-19 Vaccination Policy
For Live Classes
Under current restrictions, it is a government requirement that all people aged over 16 years old attending classes must have received both doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccination. To comply with the rules, The Music Playground staff are required to check the vaccination status of all people attending classes.
To save time at the start of class, the quickest way to check vaccination status is using the Service Victoria App on your phone as part of the QR code check-in system. Please ensure that you have added your digital vaccination certificate to the app before coming to class. Instructions on how to add your vaccination certificate can be found here:
PLEASE NOTE: Entry to classes will not be permitted without proof of vaccination (or a valid medical exemption letter). The process to upload your digital certificate to the Service Victoria app takes some time, so please ensure you complete these steps before attending class.
Covid Safety While Attending Classes
Classes are held in Leo Hoffman Reserve, Newport. The classes are held in a roped off section of the park, with only pre-booked people able to enter.
Classes are weather dependent. If we have to cancel you can rebook at another time at no extra charge.
Bookings are essential. Please click here to see our timetable and make a booking.
All attendees must check in via the Service Victoria QR code on arrival. A staff member will check your vaccination status at the same time.
Once inside the class area, please seat yourself and your children at least 1.5m away from other attendees. We recommend you bring a picnic rug for comfort. All children are required to stay with their parent for the duration of the class for effective social distancing.
Hand sanitiser is available at the entrance to the class and should be used by all grown ups and older children.
To keep everyone safe, if your child seems unwell, has a fever, cold symptoms, or is unusually unsettled, do not attend class. You are welcome to transfer your booking to another day when your child is well. (Likewise, do not attend if you yourself have any cold or flu symptoms.)
